The Lexington Park Lions Club proudly recognized the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military veterans as part of its continued commitment to community and civic engagement. The club used Veterans Day as an opportunity to express gratitude to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, reinforcing its mission of service and support.

Veterans Day, observed each year on November 11, is a time to recognize all who served honorably in the U.S. military - both in wartime and peace. Originally known as Armistice Day, the holiday was first established to commemorate the end of World War I, which formally concluded on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954, following World War II and the Korean War, Congress amended the name to “Veterans Day” to honor all American veterans, not just those who fought in World War I.

The Lexington Park Lions Club recognizes veterans not only on this day but throughout the year. Members volunteer their time and resources to support local veterans through service projects, medical equipment assistance, and partnerships with other organizations dedicated to improving the lives of those who served.

“Our veterans are the backbone of our freedom,” said Lions Club President Dana Davis. “Their service made our way of life possible. We are committed to honoring that service through action, support, and lasting gratitude.”
