| As part of its ongoing commitment to community service and public awareness, the Lexington Park Lions Club is recognizing several important national and international observances this week, December 1–7. These events highlight health, inclusion, and support for individuals across all walks of life.
World AIDS Day – Monday, December 1 Observed globally, World AIDS Day reminds us of the importance of compassion and awareness for those affected by HIV/AIDS. It’s a day to stand in solidarity with those impacted, to promote education, and to encourage access to care and prevention resources.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities – Wednesday, December 3 This United Nations-recognized day calls attention to the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and advocacy for individuals living with disabilities. The Lexington Park Lions Club proudly supports initiatives that promote independence and equal opportunities for all.
Week-Long Observances:
Older Driver Safety Awareness Week (Dec 1–5): The safety and mobility of older adults is a growing concern in our community. This week is dedicated to increasing awareness of safe driving practices, promoting alternative transportation options, and ensuring aging drivers remain safe and confident behind the wheel.
Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week (Dec 1–7): Chronic digestive diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect millions of Americans. This week serves as a reminder to uplift those affected and to encourage public education about these often misunderstood conditions.
Call to Action The Lexington Park Lions invite all community members to join in supporting these observances. Whether through volunteerism, educational outreach, or simply sharing awareness messages, every action contributes to a stronger, more inclusive community.
Together, we serve.
