| As 2025 winds down, the Lexington Park Lions Club proudly reflects on a year marked by meaningful service, community partnerships, and a renewed commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around us. |

Throughout the year, the Club worked hard to support residents through a wide range of initiatives focused on health, youth, the arts, and community well-being. Thanks to generous partnerships with MyEyeDr in California, MD, and Chesapeake Audiology, we helped numerous individuals access essential eye exams, eyeglasses, and hearing support. In total, four community members received hearing assistance, while many more were able to afford critical vision care they otherwise would have gone without. Recognizing the importance of investing in the next generation, the Club awarded two scholarships to graduating seniors from Great Mills High School, helping them take their first steps toward a bright future. Our work also extended into the realm of health advocacy. In partnership with the Brandywine Lions Club, we proudly supported their effort to provide a diabetic alert dog for a child in need - underscoring the Lions’ broader commitment to health and family support. This year, we also deepened our connection to the arts and public spaces. In collaboration with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and the Community Development Corporation, the Club helped fund the creation of artwork for six benches at the Community Garden in Lexington Manor Passive Park. These vibrant benches now serve as both functional seating and public art, bringing life to a treasured neighborhood space. In another standout project, the Club supported a community mosaic art initiative during the first-ever County Culture and Cuisine Festival. The finished mosaic - created by local hands - now hangs proudly in the St. Mary’s Caring Soup Kitchen, symbolizing togetherness and community pride. In support of our local heroes, we distributed comfort bags to first responders and crisis intervention teams, offering much-needed encouragement and practical supplies to those who serve others every day. And as the holiday season approached, the Club took part in spreading cheer by adopting a local family and providing Christmas gifts for four children, helping ensure a joyful holiday for a family facing hardship. Looking Ahead: Join the Lions and Make a Difference in 2026As we look ahead to a new year, the Lexington Park Lions Club warmly invites new members to join us in our mission of service. Whether you're passionate about helping others, supporting local youth, improving health outcomes, or enriching the community through volunteerism, there’s a place for you in our Club. Becoming a Lion is more than volunteering - it’s joining a global network of people who care. Our members come from all walks of life, united by a shared goal: to make Lexington Park and the surrounding area a better place for everyone. “Our club is always open to welcoming new members who want to make a difference,” said Dana Davis, Club President. “You don’t need special skills - just a heart for service. If you’ve been looking for a way to give back, now is the perfect time to get involved.” The Club meets regularly to plan service projects, collaborate with community partners, and discuss new opportunities to serve. Membership is open to individuals of all ages, and we encourage anyone interested in learning more to attend a meeting or connect with us via Facebook. To stay up to date on our projects or to learn how to get involved, follow the Lexington Park Lions Club on Facebook or attend a meeting. Together, we can continue to serve and strengthen our community in 2026 and beyond. Community Safety Reminder: As we head into the colder months, remember to test your smoke alarms monthly and keep space heaters at least three feet from anything flammable. Safety starts at home! |
