February 2: Groundhog Day
Members gathered with local families to celebrate the fun and folklore of Groundhog Day, sharing warm refreshments and engaging children in crafts and storytelling. “These small traditions bring our community closer,” said a club organizer. “It’s about creating memories while building bonds.”
February 3: National Women Physicians Day
The Lions recognized the women physicians of St. Mary’s County for their dedication to improving public health. Through social media spotlights and thank-you deliveries to local clinics, the club emphasized the critical role female healthcare professionals play in family and community well-being.
February 4: USO Day
On USO Day, club members delivered care packages to support services assisting local veterans and active-duty families. “We’re proud to stand behind those who’ve served and sacrificed for our freedom,” said a club spokesperson. “Supporting them is an honor and a responsibility.”
Ongoing Observances:
-
Heart Month (Feb 1–28): The club is sharing weekly heart health tips and encouraging residents to schedule blood pressure checks. Members will also volunteer at community wellness clinics throughout the month.
-
National Children’s Dental Health Month (Feb 1–28): To help kids start healthy habits early, Lions will distribute dental hygiene kits to local schools and provide educational materials for parents.
“We want Lexington Park to be a place where service meets heart,” said club leadership. “These observances aren’t just dates on a calendar—they’re opportunities to show care and make a difference.”
