| This week, the Lexington Park Lions Club is proud to spotlight wellness, learning, and environmental stewardship throughout our community. From promoting responsible pet care to encouraging organ donation and celebrating youth leadership, we invite everyone to join us in supporting causes that strengthen Lexington Park. On February 24, we recognize World Spay Day. Responsible pet ownership plays an important role in maintaining a healthy community. Spaying and neutering pets helps reduce overpopulation, improves animal health, and supports local shelters. We encourage residents to schedule regular veterinary visits and consider adoption when adding a pet to their family. February 27 marks International Polar Bear Day, a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and protecting wildlife habitats. While polar bears may live far from Southern Maryland, the choices we make locally - reducing energy use, recycling, and supporting conservation efforts - have a global impact. Stewardship of our environment ensures a healthier future for generations to come. On March 1, we observe National Donor Day, which promotes awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation. One registered donor can save and enhance multiple lives. We encourage community members to learn more about donor registration and have meaningful conversations with their families about this lifesaving decision. This week also includes several important ongoing observances. National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (Feb 23 - Mar 1) promotes understanding, compassion, and recovery for individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Raising awareness helps reduce stigma and encourages access to care. Throughout February, we recognize Low Vision Awareness Month. As Lions, vision service is central to our mission. We remain committed to advocating for accessible vision care, regular eye exams, and community support for individuals experiencing vision challenges. We also celebrate Future Farmers of America Week (Feb 23 - Mar 1), honoring young leaders in agricultural education. Supporting youth in agriculture fosters responsibility, innovation, and leadership that benefits our entire community. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back, consider becoming a Lion. The Lexington Park Lions Club welcomes new members who are passionate about service, fellowship, and making a lasting difference in our community. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to take an active leadership role, there is a place for you in our club. Together, we can uplift health, sight, environmental responsibility, and education in Lexington Park. To learn more about membership or upcoming service projects, send us a message or attend an upcoming meeting. Join us and be part of something bigger than yourself. #HealthyCommunity #VisionAwareness #ServiceWithLions #EnviroStewardship #SupportYouth #EatAndLearn #LexingtonParkLions |
