| Encouraging children to participate in a Youth Fishing Rodeo is an excellent way to introduce them to the lifelong sport of fishing while fostering an appreciation for the natural environment. These events provide a hands-on learning experience where young participants can explore concepts in biology, ecology, ichthyology, and environmental science in an engaging and memorable way. Youth Fishing Rodeos are typically hosted at small ponds or lakes and are specifically designed for beginners. With guidance from experienced volunteers and organizers, children have a high chance of successfully catching their first fish, building confidence and excitement for outdoor recreation. In addition to fishing, these events emphasize environmental stewardship by teaching children about aquatic habitats, conservation practices, and the importance of protecting natural resources. 2026 Youth Fishing Rodeo Schedule Calvert County (1 Event) Montgomery County (3 Events) Kings Pond DeSimon Pond Lake Halcyon Prince George’s County (4 Events) Catfish Pond Allen Pond Catfish Pond Catfish Pond Sponsor (All Events): The Youth Fishing League & Beats & Gardening Get Involved For additional information and a complete schedule of events, please visit the Youth Fishing Rodeos page.
