| The first week of June brings several important opportunities to focus on health, safety, and caring for our community. On June 3, World Bicycle Day encourages residents of all ages to get outside, stay active, and enjoy safe recreation. Whether it's a ride through the neighborhood or along local trails, bicycling is a great way to support physical and mental well-being. World Environment Day on June 5 reminds us that small actions can make a difference. Picking up litter, reducing waste, planting trees, and helping keep Lexington Park clean are simple ways to care for the environment we all share. On June 7, National Cancer Survivors Day, we recognize the strength and determination of cancer survivors and honor the families, caregivers, and medical professionals who support them every day. It is a time to celebrate hope while remembering those still facing the challenges of cancer treatment. Several month-long and week-long observances also begin this week: National CPR & AED Awareness Week (June 1–7): Learning lifesaving skills can help prepare individuals to respond during emergencies when every second counts. Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month (June 1–30): Raising awareness helps support those living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive decline while encouraging research and education. Men’s Health Month (June 1–30): Preventive care, regular checkups, healthy eating, and physical activity all play important roles in maintaining long-term health. The Lexington Park Lions Club encourages residents to take part in these observances and continue supporting local wellness, safety, and community service efforts. As part of Lions Clubs International, one of the world's largest service organizations, we remain committed to improving lives through service under our global motto, "We Serve." If you are interested in giving back to the community, meeting new people, and supporting local service projects, the Lexington Park Lions Club welcomes new members. We invite you to learn more about how you can get involved and help strengthen our community. #ServeWithLions #CPRAwareness #WorldEnvironmentDay #CommunityHealth #MensHealthMonth #VolunteerService #LexingtonParkLions |
