Lexington Park Lions Club Highlights Community Impact in First Half of 2025–2026 Lion Year
The Lexington Park Lions Club continued its long-standing tradition of community service during the first half of the 2025–2026 Lion Year, providing critical assistance and support to residents throughout Southern Maryland.
A central mission of Lions Clubs worldwide is protecting vision and hearing, and the Lexington Park Lions remained strongly committed to that goal. During the first half of the year, the club completed 34 financial assistance agreements for eye exams and eyeglasses and 9 agreements for hearing exams and hearing aids, helping ensure that individuals in need have access to essential care that improves their quality of life.
The club also continued its partnership with local first responders and crisis support teams. For the fifth consecutive year, Lions members assembled and distributed 96 comfort bags, which were shared between the Calvert County Crisis Response Team and the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. These bags provide comfort items to individuals experiencing traumatic or stressful situations and help first responders offer immediate care and reassurance during difficult moments.
In addition to health and crisis support, the Lions worked to brighten the holidays for a local family in need. Club members provided Christmas gifts and support for a family with five children, ages 3 to 12, helping ensure the family experienced the joy and warmth of the season.
The Lexington Park Lions also provided support to several community organizations and programs during the first half of the year, including:
-
Lions Clubs International Foundation
-
The St. Mary’s County First Responder Appreciation Event
-
St. Mary’s Caring Back-to-School Bash
-
King’s Christian Academy through the Optimus Prime initiative
-
Assistance with a rental deposit for a homeless single parent
-
Childhood Cancer Awareness efforts and three scholarships to Camp Merrick
The club also remained active in community engagement efforts by participating in events such as Dollars for Dogs and Weekend with Santa, which helped raise awareness and connect with residents throughout the community.
Looking ahead, the Lexington Park Lions are preparing for one of their signature service initiatives, Lend Us Your Write Arm, an annual blood drive that helps ensure local hospitals maintain a lifesaving blood supply.
Through service projects, financial assistance, and partnerships with community organizations, the Lexington Park Lions Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving lives across the community.
Residents interested in supporting the club’s mission are encouraged to follow the Lexington Park Lions Club and learn more about volunteer opportunities and upcoming service events.
