| This week, the Lexington Park Lions Club is proud to join communities across the nation in observing several important days and month-long initiatives that celebrate service, civic responsibility, and community support.
Monday, October 27 marks both Navy Day and National Civics Day. Navy Day is a time to recognize the courage and commitment of our United States Navy personnel who protect our nation's waters and uphold global maritime security. National Civics Day encourages all citizens to engage more deeply with the rights and responsibilities that sustain our democracy, reminding us of the vital role civic education plays in building strong communities.
On Tuesday, October 28, we pause to observe National First Responders Day, honoring the brave firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and other emergency personnel who are first on the scene during times of crisis. Their tireless dedication to public safety and health is the backbone of our local and national resilience.
Throughout October, we also recognize Tackling Hunger Month, a campaign to combat food insecurity across the country. Locally, the Lexington Park Lions Club remains committed to this mission by supporting food drives and hunger-relief programs that serve families in need right here in St. Mary’s County.
This week, we invite our community to join us in service: honor those who protect our seas and shores, support our first responders, and contribute to local hunger-relief efforts. Together, we can make a lasting impact through small acts of service and shared dedication to others.
