| The week of March 16–22 offers several meaningful reminders about the values that help build a stronger community. From protecting our health to celebrating inclusion and caring for our shared environment, these observances reflect concerns that matter close to home. The Lexington Park Lions Club is proud to recognize this week’s focus on oral health, Down syndrome awareness, clean water, poison prevention, nutrition, and vision care.
On March 20, World Oral Health Day reminds us that good dental care supports lifelong health and well-being. On March 21, World Down Syndrome Day calls attention to the importance of inclusion, learning, and recognizing the strengths that diverse individuals bring to our communities. Then on March 22, World Water Day encourages all of us to be good stewards of clean, safe water, which remains essential for health, dignity, and daily life.
This week also falls during several month- and week-long observances that deserve attention. National Poison Prevention Week, observed March 15–21, is a timely reminder for families to store medications and household products safely and out of reach of children. National Nutrition Month continues throughout March, encouraging balanced meals and healthy habits that support wellness at every age. Save Your Vision Month also continues this month, underscoring the importance of regular eye exams and early care to help protect sight.
These themes reflect the broader mission of Lions Clubs International, one of the world’s largest service organizations, dedicated to improving communities both locally and globally. Guided by the motto “We Serve,” Lions support important causes including vision and eye health, youth programs, community service, disaster relief, and humanitarian work. The Lexington Park Lions Club is grateful for every opportunity to promote healthier lives, greater inclusion, and practical service that makes a difference close to home.
The Lexington Park Lions Club welcomes new members who want to serve their community, support local causes, and be part of a caring tradition of volunteerism. Whether by volunteering time, sharing local resources, or helping raise awareness about health and wellness, there is a place for neighbors who want to make a positive impact.
