April 20, 2026

The week of April 20–26 offers several meaningful reminders of how everyday service can strengthen a community. For the Lexington Park Lions Club, this is a time to focus on caring for our environment, supporting public health, and recognizing the volunteers whose efforts make local service possible. From Earth Day and Arbor Day to National Help a Horse Day, this week highlights the many ways individuals and families can make a positive difference close to home.

National Volunteer Week, observed April 20–26, is a fitting time to thank all those who give their time to serve others. Volunteers are the foundation of strong communities, and their work is visible in neighborhood cleanups, youth support, health outreach, and countless acts of kindness that often happen quietly but leave a lasting impact. The Lexington Park Lions Club is proud to stand alongside those who serve with generosity and dedication.

This week also calls attention to important causes that affect the well-being of both people and the environment. Earth Day on April 22 encourages all of us to support conservation and take part in efforts to keep our community clean. Arbor Day on April 24 reminds us that planting trees is an investment in a healthier, greener future. National Help a Horse Day on April 26 shines a light on the importance of responsible animal care and stewardship. Throughout April, Keep America Beautiful Month continues to inspire pride in local cleanup and beautification efforts, while World Immunization Week beginning April 24 underscores the value of routine vaccines in protecting public health.

These observances reflect the broader mission of Lions Clubs International, one of the world’s largest service organizations, dedicated to improving communities both locally and globally. Guided by the motto “We Serve,” Lions support causes including vision and eye health, youth programs, community service, disaster relief, and humanitarian work. The Lexington Park Lions Club is committed to that same spirit of service here at home, working to build a cleaner, healthier, and more caring community for all.

The Lexington Park Lions Club welcomes new members who want to serve their community, support local causes, and make a difference. Whether your interest is volunteering, beautification projects, helping with community programs, or simply being part of a group devoted to service, there is a place for you. This week is a wonderful opportunity to get involved by volunteering, planting a tree, or helping beautify Lexington Park.
